I was born in Bakersfield, California to parents of deep Danish roots.  My father was born Danish Lutheran and immigrated to this country at 21 years of age after sailing with the Danish merchant marines for 2 years.  My mother's parents were dairy farmers and likewise immigrated to America before having any children.

I was not born with a Mormon heritage.  In fact, though my parents converted to Mormonism (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints),
